Temporary Tax Assistant

Location: Beeston, Nottingham

Duration: Temporary ongoing approx. 12 weeks

Salary: £11.28ph

 Our client is looking for a Tax assistant to assist the Tax manager in the processing of personal, partnership and corporate tax return information by the deadline in a timely and efficient manner.

You must be available to start immediately and not have any holidays booked during the month of January. It is essential that you are comfortable dealing with tax related CT600’s, Tax returns and sole traders

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Liaison with clients, staff members and directors
  • Keep track of the progress of jobs
  • Follow up to ensure information requests are received and/or followed up
  • Communicate in person or via telephone, email, letter, fax
  • Adhere to company paperless management system
  • Adhere to company Quality procedures
  • Always promote the business in a positive way and at all opportunities reinforce our key services/disciplines to new and existing clients
  • Always deliver best practice and assistance to all clients
  • Complete daily timesheets to record all working hours and provide detailed descriptions of tasks completed
  • Management of workload and adherence to agreed budgets and timescales
  • Be proactive to ensure all significant correspondence issued has been safely received and ensure responses/approvals are obtained at the earliest opportunity
  • Provide directors, clients and other key parties with regular progress updates

Skills and Experience:

  • Check the tax work planner with the manager and book in for jobs due and to be done
  • Confirm with manager the tax records not received
  • Take note of budgets and keep track of time spent on tasks
  • Report to manager if time spent has reached budget prior to completion of task
  • Draft a request of explanations and further information from clients as appropriate
  • Review Tax Software to check tax liabilities for consistency and reasonableness
  • Review Tax Software to check client’s income for reasonableness and check reconciled appropriately. Ensure full disclosure of all clients’ income made on supplementary schedules
  • Report any errors or inconsistencies to the Tax Manager along with suggested suitable tax planning ideas
  • Use various computer software programs which will include (but not limited to) Microsoft Office (word, excel etc).  Develop skills and provide assistance with more specialist software such as Tax Assistants
  • Learn the different types of reports that will be useful for the Book-keeping and Accounts departments
  • Learn the different reports available for export/printing from Tax Assistant
